Project Manager - The Lyric Lounge

The Lyric Lounge – part of the Igniting Ambition programme

The Lyric Lounge project is the creation of temporary, “transformed” venues for spoken word/poetry events and the delivery of programmes of activity including performance and workshops, open-mike and poetry slam. The project will create a platform for local and emerging talent (as well as established performers) and will be delivered in two stages, with stage one operating in Leicester for a full week during July 2009 as part of the Cultural Programme for the Special Olympics. There will be an emphasis on engagement with a diverse range of young people, including BME young people, and involvement of learning disabled people.   The second stage will involve cascading the concept across the region (with potentially fifteen performance venue projects) from late 2009 to September 2012.

To deliver the project, MLA East Midlands and Renaissance East Midlands seek the following (initially for stage one delivery over the period January to August 2009):

Project Manager (encompassing programming role)

The Project Manager (PM) will be an organisation that can manage project delivery and also offers live literature programming skills (or can sub contract the programming element). The PM will need to be experienced at working with young people and with a commitment to engagement of learning disabled people and BME young people. Those applying should also indicate whether they would be interested in the potential for stage two delivery of the project from September 2009- 2012. The reserved budget figure for project management for stage one is up to £10,000 with a substantial delivery budget.
